Star Lily

Star Lily (Leucocrinum montanum) is in the Anthericacea family and is found on prairies, sagebrush grasslands, deserts, and mountain meadows of western North. This tiny flower blooms white in late May or June, with the entire aboveground part of the plant withering away.

Prickly Pear

Plains Pricklypear (Opuntia polyacantha) is a native perennial cactus with flattened fleshy pads, can grow to 10 inches tall and blooms in July with either yellow, pink or red flowers.  This cactus likes dry sunny open areas and sandy, gravelly infertile soil for the ultimate in drought tolerance.
