Hi! I’m Jacki, and this is my new series here on the Laramie County Master Gardener’s Website Blog page. As I write this, I am looking out my window at this:

Snow in my backyard
Snow in my backyard

And, I know it's hard to think of spring and summer when the wild Wyoming wind is blowing, and snow is coming down, but we have less than 5 months to planting season!!!

In this series, I have selected different vegetables that I will be highlighting which I believe will be successful in our short growing season. Each post will highlight a vegetable, its growing season, where the seeds can be found, and what you can expect from it. Later, during the growing season, I will be providing pictures and lessons learned with each plant to help you be an even more successful Wyoming gardener!

Having said this, bear this thought in mind...I am relatively new to my new home state, though I have grown vegetables in 5 different states, with five different zones, with five different altitudes! So, if you have helpful suggestions, I would love to read them!

In the meantime, I have already started artichokes, which will be the subject of the next post. Please enjoy this picture of my seed starting plant infrastructure for this spring! Happy Gardening!!
